Thanks for visiting.
Just got a new telephoto lens, a Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4D IF-ED and it's already exceeding my expectations. With my 1.7x teleconverter it's transformed into a 500mm f/6.7. Real close to what the pros use (500-600 f/4), but $4000 less! I took this shot of the Moon and was amazed at the detail. Now I should be able to reach out and touch birds that I would have passed on before.
I got a new camera as a birthday present to myself in March 2008, a Nikon D300, (12.2 MP Digital). I really love it so far, a MAJOR upgrade from my old D70.
I recently started encoding GPS (Global Positioning System) data into my photos using a free program called WWMX Location Stamper. It's pretty cool because I usually carry a GPS in my pocket anyhow in case I need to mark a rare bird location. Most photo sharing sites now recognize the "Geotagged" photos allowing the photos to be instantly viewed on a Google Earth satellite map. Pretty cool!
If you see "map this!" in the upper right corner on one of my pages, click on it to view exactly where the photos were taken.

Professional camera gear is REALLY EXPENSIVE. Ultimately I'd like to purchase a Nikon AF-S Nikkor 600mm f/4G ED VR Autofocus Telephoto Lens. At almost $10,000, it'll be a while. If you've enjoyed my pictures and would like to help out by donating, that would be AWESOME!!
Cheers,
